Then she assigned to the State Archive of the Ministry for Home Affairs in Daghestan. At first she worked in the department of the secret funds, then she became the Archive manager. In 1958, she arrived at the Zagorsk Museum where she got a job of a senior research worker in the registration department supervised by O.A. Belobrova. In 1964, E.N. Klitina replaced O.A. Belobrova, who had got a job in Pushkin House in Leningrad. E.N. Klitina hold the post of the chief curator till 1981, when she had to leave for reasons of health. A historian and archivist, Klitina was interested in the manuscripts, archive materials and the Monastery registration documents – Donation Books and Inventories - preserved in the museum. Due to Klitina’s active collecting activity, the collection of the manuscripts (about 200 works) grew up to 600. As a rule, she wrote a preliminary description of the acquired manuscripts.
E.N. Klitina’s great contribution was her investigation of the main documents of the Monastery registration – Donation Books and Inventories. Together with T.V. Nikolayeva and O.A. Belobrova, she prepared for publication the Donation Book of the 17th century. She carried out the textual and original source investigation. In 1987, the Monastery Donation Book of 1673 was published. E.N. Klitina published works on history of the museum collections, on the Monastery documents, as well as, the results of her long practice connected with the research of the optimum conditions for different collections. Thus, when the new exhibitions were arranged in the second half of the 1970s, E. Klitina was concerned with the equipment and appropriate displaying conditions for the exhibits. When E.N. Klitina was the chief curator, they created a complex of the museum expositions, which determined the museum character for several decades in advance.
