The scientific research work is reflected in the museum publication activity, which can be divided into several periods. The first period (1919 – 1927) was connected with the Commission on Preservation of Historical and Art Monuments of the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra which published the first scientific records of the ancient Lavra collections and articles on separate monuments and masters. The second period (1955 – 1969) is marked by the publication of the selections “Soobshchenia of the Zagorsk Museum (SZM. Zagorsk, 1955, 1958, 1960),, the first comprehensive catalogue (Николаева Т.В. Произведения мелкой пластики XIII-XVII вв. в собрании Загорского музея. – Загорск, 1960[Nikolayeva T.V. Proizvedeniya melkoi plastiki v sobranii Zagorskogo muzeya. – Zagorsk, 1960],), collective monograph «Троице-Сергиева Лавра. Художественные памятники» (М., 1968)[“Troitse-Sergieva Lavra. Khudozhestvennye pamyatniki” (M., 1968)] The publications of the third period (1970 – 1990) were catalogues of the Museum collections reflecting the priorities in the scientific work. At that period about 30 catalogues were published. In 1990 the Museum resumed the edition of the selections “Soobshchenia”. In 2000 they started to publish the materials of the international conferences. “The Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra in History, Culture and Spiritual Life of Russia”. Catalogues of temporary exhibitions, organized in the museum and outside occupy an important place among publications of the last years. The Museum publications include different kind of popular literature: guide-books,leaflets, booklets on the museum, different displays and exhibitions; local history series of brochures, illustrating architectural monuments, remarkable events and historical places of the Sergiev Posad district.
