Then the children attended the lecture “What an ancient book reported” and the excursion at the new exhibition “Book Culture in Russia and the Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery in the 15th – 19th cc.”. At the exhibition the children learnt how books were created and decorated in Old Russia, who wrote books in the Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery and what kind of books were created. At the end there was “An Approbation of a Scriber” – an interactive class in the room for clubs meetings. At the class the children became Russian medieval pupils, they learnt to write with a goose feather, got acquainted with the peculiarities of the Old Russian colloquial and written language.
“A Native Word” was the last part of the annual cycle of social programs “Meetings at the Museum”. It was prepared in co-operation with the Sergiev Posad Children’s House of Culture named “Spring” . The participants learnt how people invented letters and alphabet, what materials were used for writing in different countries, why the Slav alphabet was called Cyrillic, what were Cyril and Methodius, what books were written in the Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery, who the authors were. The children had a chance to scribe and illuminate the Slav letters, to read and translate the Slav texts, to feel themselves as creators of a manuscript.
The program included the festive concert “The Light of the Native Land” prepared by children folklore groups from the Moscow, Yaroslavl and Vladimir Regions.
In the yard of the historical and architectural complex “Konny Dvor” the sale-exhibition of Russian folk handicrafts - “A Living Spring” and master-classes - “The Town of Craftsmen” of applied and decorative were organizes organized.
So, during four festive days 850 people visited the Museum. The festive programs, dedicated to the Days of the Slav Written Language made the Museum, more popular and confirmed its role of a cultural and educational center of the town.
