3. The Day of the Slav Written Language and Culture (page 2)
In May 24, the participants of the festival were citizen and guests of our town of different age groups and occupations. In the Museum library a leading research worker, Dr of History Kirichenko Larisa Alexandrovna made an interesting report “The Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery – a center of book culture in Old Russian” for adult participants.
The program “A Native Word” included an excursion with creative tasks, a musical and poetical composition and a quiz. It was traditionally addressed to the children participating in the annual Museum programs: in Olympiads, in the social programs “Meetings in the Museum”, etc. In co-operation with the municipal center “Family” the Museum invite disabled children, families with moderate means and large families. They took part in games and various creative competitions.
The concert “Light of the Mother Land” was organized by children’s folklore groups from Sergiev Posad, Klin, Pushkino, Zhukovsky. The audience enjoyed songs and dances prepared by the young artists from 7 groups. Before the concert all guests and artists visited the Museum exhibitions dedicated to native history and culture.
Interesting meetings, excursions, “trips through the centuries” became a good tradition of the Festival of the Slav Written Language and Culture in the Sergiev Posad Museum. They were supposed to make the festival unofficial and to form careful attitude to the Russian language, native tongue and books.
