2. The festive program “Shrovetide” at the Konny Dvor (page 2)
The following part of the program was “ A Funny Town”
in the yard of the Museum complex. The folklore group “Buffoons’ Settlement” with a big straw doll, symbolizing Shrove, organized dances and games in a ring including all guests at the Bell Square.
The culmination of the feast was the moment when the Shrove was burnt. In the middle of the program the guests were treated to tea and pan-cakes. They had a rest and could take an active part in the following performance.
The result of the game program “Funny Town” at the Bell Square of the Museum yard was unexpected for organizers, as well as for the specialists of the social help center “Family”. The program demonstrated how simple games helped the children to forget about their state and to join their parents in the merry performance. Thus, the games were approved as positive elements in such festivals.
At the end of the program the quests were invited to the exhibition “Russian Applied and Decorative Art of the 18th – 21st c.” The Museum guides received the visitors and gave them creative assignments on sheets of paper shaped like pan-cakes. All participants received souvenirs – bookmarks with the museum exhibits depicted on them.
