In May, 26 – June, 2, at the All Russian Exhibition Center the 10th jubilee Museum Festival “Inter-Museum – 2008” with the exhibition “Museum Technologies and Expo-Museum Equipment” took place. The Festival was supported by the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography, Moscow Administration and Russian ICOM Committee. Over 300 different museums, foreign museums, galleries, archives, libraries and social organizations, handicrafts centers and art schools took part in the Festival. The last festival motto was “The museum is a unity of diversities”.

“Inter-Museum”, where the Sergiev Posad Museum participated since the organization of the festival, is a unique place to get acquainted with the main tendencies of the museum development in Russia. The 10th festival also included the first All Russian conference of the Chief Curators. At the opening ceremony spoke Minister for Culture of the Russian Federation Alexander Avdeyev, President of the Museum Union of Russia Mikhail Piotrovsky, General Director of the All Russian Exhibition Center Magomed Musayev, Head of the Department of Cultural Heritage and Federal Agency of Culture and Cinematography of Russia Anna Kolupayeva and the Festival Executive Director Tatyana Kibalchich.

The competitive program of the Festival included several nominations: “Our Museum”, “Museum for Tourists”, “History of my Museum”. The Museum Union of Russia established nomination “Museum in town N…” for the municipal museums. Grand Prix of the Festival, which was determined by summing up the points, received for three nominations, went to the Museum of Nature and Man in Khanty-Mansiysk. It took part in nomination “History of my Museum” with the project “ The Museum: Marks of Life”; in nomination “Museum for Tourists” with special tourist programs in the Museum and Tourist Complex “The Farm of a Village Merchant in the Village Seliyarovo”; in nomination “Our Museum” with “The Conception of the Museum Complex “Lutovskoye”.

Our Museum took part in nomination “History of my Museum” with the complex project “History of the Sergiev Posad Museum. Facts. Events. Destinies”, based on the corresponding part of the Museum site. Though we did not receive any prize, the participation was a good reason to improve the form of our site.

Оur stand presented the work of the Museum archeological department. In two showcases were displayed the Museum publications that attracted numerous visitors. The materials on folk art and recommendations for the work with children were most popular. On the whole, the exhibition showed the public growing interest in scientific publications. The seminars were extremely useful for the young members of the staffs.
