Excursions for junior school children
“On the Makovets Hill” ( for the age group from six to ten). The children can see “a fairy-tale” town looking like the town of Prince Gvidon. They are invited for a walk to the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra to see its architecture and treasures.
“The Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra and its Treasures” (a review excursion for the pupils of the 4th – 7th classes). The excursion includes the Monastery territory and “The Sacristy of the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra”. The children get acquainted with the major Russian Monastery and its role in history of the Russian State. They find out the function of church art and see different kinds of the 14th – 19th century Russian art: architecture, Old Russian embroidery and applied art.
“We are looking for a hidden treasure” (an excursion for the age group from six to ten) . The excursion is organized like a game. Playing, the children get acquainted with the ancient past of the Sergiev Posad Land and with history of the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra. They fulfill assignments, answer riddles, look for a hidden treasure, a small fragment of which they will take with them.
“Once there lived…” (an excursion at the exhibition “The World of a Russian Village”). The game-excursion presents a wonderful world of Russian folk art. Details of a house exterior decoration, household utensils, tools, folk dresses create an atmosphere of an old village, illustrate traditional rituals and the way of life.
“Miraculous Transformations” (for children from 6 to 10). The excursion demonstrates how a piece of wood or clay is turned into a wonderful work of art. In a game form the guide presents handicrafts of the Sergiev Posad district and other centers of Russia.
“Hello, Museum” (an excursion for children from 6 to 10). The children find out what the Museum is, what its title means, what the museum professions are, how ordinary objects become exhibits. They learn about life of provincial Sergiev Posad at the turn of the 20th century and during the Great patriotic war.
