The program includes:
– a tour of the architectural ensemble in the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra;
– excursion at the exhibition “The World of a Russian Village” and a rag doll master-class;
The program demonstrates a peculiarity of Russian culture, a combination of two traditional layers: Christian and folk heritage. The development of the architectural ensemble of the Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery and symbolism of the exterior and interior decoration of the cathedrals are good illustrations of Orthodox culture. The exhibition “The World of a Russian Village” gives an opportunity to see beliefs and rituals of our ancestors, traditions in everyday life and festive rituals. Visitors make a protector rag doll and take it with them as a souvenir.
“Kind Hands Skill” (3 hours)
The program includes a tour of the architectural ensemble of the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, excursion at the exhibition “Russian Applied and Decorative Art of the 18th – 21st c.” and a master-class. Russia is famous for craftsmen. The architectural complex of the Trinity-St. Sergius Monastery – “a stone chronicle” – was created by several generations of Russian craftsmen in the course of five centuries.
