    FESTIVE PROGRAMS (p.2)

    Meeting  the young couple with bread and salt. --    “Harmony and Love” (an excursion for young couples after the wedding ceremony)
    . The bride and bridegroom are greeted according to the old wedding ritual, expressing respect to the young family. They are addressed to as Prince and Princess. The young couple and their guests and a quid surrounded by ancient items, “repeat” the traditional stages of the Russian wedding: acquaintance, match-making, inspection of the bridegroom’s property, the bride’s parting with her girl-friends, church wedding, festive treat. Elements of theater performance help the guests to participate in the ritual and reveal the meaning of the surviving traditions.


    Family jubilee program --    “Dear Prince and Princess and Culture” (a program for family jubilees).
    During the informal excursion married couples recall how they met, take part in joky contests, play, dance and sing. The bright objects of everyday peasants life convey the atmosphere of the remote past.

    Festival at the Konny Dvor --    “Days of the Slav Written Language” (a festive program)
    The origin of the feast of the Slav written language and culture dates back to the late 9th century. It is closely connected with honoring of the creators of the Slav alphabet – brothers Cyril and Methodius. The program includes:
    - a museum excursion “To the Roots of Russian Culture” with creative assignments;
    - art workshops;
    - festival “The Light of the Native Land” of the children folklore groups from the Moscow Region;
    - games, entertainment for all generations
    “Enjoy yourselves at the feast, Orthodox People, marvel beauty, honor craftsmen!”
